SMAANZ 2018 AWARDS AND GRANTS ARE OPEN!

These awards are highly regarded and presented at the SMAANZ Conference each year.
As a primarily volunteer organisation, it is considered particularly appropriate and important to provide opportunities for members to gain recognition for their outstanding contributions to SMAANZ and to the field of sport management.
Applications are open for the below awards:
2017 Distinguished Service Award Winner: Prof. Kristine Toohey from Griffith University

Paper Title: The carbon footprint of active sport
$5,000 grant awarded
2017 Industry Engagement Grant Winner
Project title: ‘Strategically Loading the Bases:
A case study of New Zealand Baseball.’
The results of the project will be presented at the 2018 SMAANZ conference.
$2,000 towards conference expenses
2017 Student Research Award Winner
Project title: The impact of civic duty and political
cynicism on support for event intention to participate in a major sport event referendum
SMAANZ also has a Travel Assistance grant for students to help with travel costs to attend the SMAANZ Conference.
The purpose of the SMAANZ Student Travel Assistance (STA) program is to assist students in attending the student workshop held as a part of the annual SMAANZ conference.
The student workshop provides an opportunity for students to: (1) develop a network of colleagues to assist in the transition into the SMAANZ community; (2) share their research with their peers; and, (3) provide professional development opportunities through sessions led by senior academic staff on topics of interest to students.
