SMAANZ 2023 - Welcome Event

The SMAANZ 2023 organising committee are thrilled to announce the venue for the SMAANZ 2023 Conference Welcome Event … with a difference!

The Welcome Event is more than just a prelude; it’s an opportunity to connect, unwind, and kickstart the conference with a burst of energy. As sport academics we talk the talk, now let’s walk the walk!

Set at the University of Canberra Stromlo Forest Park we aim for all to experience Canberra’s world class outdoor recreation and sport facilities and give you all the opportunity to try mountain biking, BMX, cycling, trail running, and cross country. A limited number of bikes will be made available for your use, but please feel free to bring your own equipment if you like. UCSFP is located approximately 15 minutes from Canberra CBD and offers stunning views (lets hope for a nice sunset!) across Canberra and to the Brindabella mountain ranges.

Our Welcome Event will include a cultural experience, small presentations, and amazing food and drinks from a local Canberra region brewery and vineyard.

We aim to create a chilled and relaxed atmosphere with transport provided with buses to and from the University of Canberra and the City – leave the car at the hotel!
