FAQ
Conference Presentations
All conference presentations – except for our enlightening talks – are held for 20 minutes with an additional 5 minutes for Q&A.
All presentations are held on the same floor in the AGSE Building in adjacent rooms so it will be easy to move from one room to another between presentations if needed.
Enlightening talks are 20 slides x 20 seconds per slide, please ensure you have automated your timing for your presentation as we will be running these in one session in our keynote room on Friday.
Conference Presentations
Please ensure you complete the registration form ASAP – and thank you to those who have already completed – we are finalising all meals and lanyards early this week and will rely on this information to ensure accuracy.
Please collect your conference lanyard and gifts at the AGSE Foyer from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Wednesday 30th November. You will need your lanyard to gain access to the Welcome Function and Conference Dinner. The registration desk will also be open on Thursday morning for those not attending Wednesday's events.
Lanyards for those attending the PhD student sessions and/or the SMAANZ board meeting will be available at those sessions.
Melbourne Travel
For those travelling to our Hawthorn campus by car, a map of available car parking can be found here. The easiest option will be the multi-level car park on Wakefield Street (off Glenferrie Road) at $10 per day.
Conference Dinner
Our conference dinner will be an opportunity to celebrate the end of the conference and spend time with old and new friends. The dress code for this event will be smart business or cocktail attire.
Melbourne weather
For those travelling from interstate or overseas it is important to note that Melbourne's weather is (in)famously changeable. We are currently in a La Nina weather pattern, so experiencing a little more rain than usual for this time of year. Current temperatures are in the 20s (Celsius), so you may need a light jacket in the evenings and be prepared for some rain just in case. Please also be aware that we have relatively high pollen counts in Melbourne, so if you suffer from allergies, you may want to come prepared with your medications.
COVID Protocols
To minimise the transmission of COVID-19, we ask you to please stay home when sick—if you are feeling unwell, even with only very mild symptoms, it’s extremely important to stay home. COVID-19 Information (Victoria)
